Two Faces with No Spare Parts

The United States of America was never great, but it still has great potential. I previously wrote about America being the Divided States of America regarding the “church v. State.” Now, I am furthering our country’s problem with religions. Please, eliminate all labels which you associate with and all that you endear—secretly—towards Others. An open mind helps process lots of information.

For almost two decades America (claiming a National Christian-hood) continues its battle with the Middle East, and their Muslim-hood. War is getting tiresome. Those of us who witnessed the 9/11 Towers falling must understand their children born near 1998-2001 have grown up with war. Yes, my parents and yours, and the many elders today will discourse the same traumas and chaos during the Vietnam war. This is one important point of many I claim as problematic with the church v. State conundrum.

Maybe history skips a generation or two. Last month I spoke with my father about politics, war, and many subjects I wish I hadn’t continued, but he impressed upon me what’s been ailing me for too long: We need to learn from our past history. I will save the explanations from Michel Foucault; it’d be great if you could read his “The Subject and Power.”

And, I will save time analyzing religion, particularly Christianity and Islam. Why war?

War is everything demoralizing and theft with an end goal of control. Hopefully in a couple of months, President Obama will release the deliberate omission of 28 pages regarding September 11, 2001 which President G. W. Bush accomplished himself. Be it oil or manipulating countries for America’s wealthiest people’s interest, war in the Middle East is a shit storm for the entire world. It’s easily comparable to the Crusades. Arguably,  America boldly declared itself an  Empire much like the Romans. [Spoiler: The Roman Empire fell, because of Christianity, division of the populace, and rising prices due to scarcity of food and resources.]

Christianity, birthed from Judaism, seems like the spoiled brat of religions wanting dire attention and demanding respect.

America struggled with civility towards Others; the “Americans” meaning white people who championed slaves, warred to end it, allowed black men to vote before any woman—no matter her skin color, allowing women to vote, and later oppressing black people through segregation.

The beginning of the 1980s was a scare to all humans, no matter their race. An unknown virus killed many: HIV/AIDS. The “Americans” (still white people; Christian too) continued their tradition of scapegoating: “God hates Fags.” AIDS became known as the “gay plague.” Until, thankfully, heterosexual people were dying from it.

Some Americans are “Born in the USA”, but when it comes to civil liberties America takes “One Step Up and Two Steps Back.”

Fast forwarding to today, a few states in America chose Christianity as a substrate for policy and law. My focus is on North Carolina. Last year was a great one step up, since the Supreme Court approved same-sex marriage. [Keep your mind open before arguing, thank you.]

Just as Africans became slaves, and slaves to being American citizens, homosexuals grew in numbers and tired themselves, quietly, feeling like an alien in society. So, too, can be said about Christians when the Roman Empire fell. Again, knowing the history of a religion, party, nation, etc. is paramount when arguing for religious freedom.

What is religious freedom? Religious is believing in a religion. Right? Is freedom a right for an associative group mandating Others to obey their demands? No one is born a particular religion, especially Christianity. Judaism’s first covenant is circumcision—a Jewish male is not one with God until his foreskin is cutoff.

Their God is perfect?Wrong over Right
North Carolina chose undermining the Supreme Court’s decision by alienating lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender (LGBT) people against their right to civil liberty according to the Bill of Rights.

Human dignity coincides with such liberty. I further the latter with a necessary understanding about Christianity. Which denomination is the correct and all-encompassing for “Americans?” Catholicism is Christianity. According to the Catholic Social Teaching organization in the United Kingdom:

Human dignity is something that can’t be taken away. Catholic Social Teaching states that each and every person has value, are worthy of great respect and must be free from slavery, manipulation and exploitation.

Albeit, such statement may contend it is only Catholic belief. No, the universal definition is the same. Therefore, no religion shall mandate exclusion based on a person’s sexuality. The Christian mindset in North Carolina clearly delineates hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy was my motivation writing this in view of the fact that Dr. Michael Brown spread fear and hate mongering within his article, “PayPal Scorns Conservative Americans While Embracing Cuban Communists.”

I stumbled upon his article whilst skimming through Facebook. I “like” many pages on Facebook for a grander understanding with contemporary views for my better judgment. I first saw the article on the Conservative News Today Facebook Page. This heavily biased Page—and website states:

Stop supporting the dinosaur liberal media. Read for the latest news and scathing commentary on business, politics, and life by conservative writers and leaders in Palm Beach County and Florida. Help take back your country by reading BIZPAC Review.

Dr. Brown’s article is referenced in the Federalist Papers Project. If you choose to read it, and I hope you do, please keep an open mind and try to understand the argument.

His illogical rant damns both his religious belief.

First, let us understand Dr. Brown’s mentality conflicting with Christianity. The article displayed on provides a short biography; he’s the president of FIRE School of Ministry. This cherry picking of scripture website negates the totality of Christianity. First glance at the site and I thought it was some demonic cult. Well, it could be.

There are too many selections on their home page. However, one section caught my attention:

Does your heart burn to make a difference in this generation? If you are a radically committed follower of Jesus who wants to be equipped to fulfill your destiny in God . . . check out FIRE School of Ministry!

I’d rather not assume, but I’m positive Dr. Brown wrote and preached about “radically Islamic terrorists” while complaining why President Obama refuses uttering such words. The damnation on Christianity comes from him and the FIRE website. Or, they’re meaning radical as dispelling Christian belief proclaimed in the Old and New Testaments. In short, he’s a hypocrite.

It seems the Conservative News Today’s posting of the Federalist Papers Project appeals more to an uneducated audience who believe anything they read as “news” within social media. The writer’s poor grammar supports the idiocy.

LGBT humans have the same rights as heterosexual humans. Why and how is this inconceivable . . . in 2016? And why must we alienate Others based on their persona, be it religion, nation, race, language, and/or sexuality?

The meme is a slap in the face to all denominations of Christianity. Homosexuality is not a virus, nor any impeding towards one’s religion. If white people cannot be civil with blacks, Latinos, Arabs, Asians, etc., then they fail their own damn religion. The cherry picking of scripture is tiring and much ado bullshit. The Bible states not eating shellfish. And, ‘God’ forbid any white American Christian ever masturbate, because dispensing sperm into tissue rather than in a woman aborts the essence of ‘God.’

Dr. Brown bitched about Bruce Springsteen and PayPal CEO, Dan Schulman with claims damaging his religion, race, country and State. Just the same as he and many devout Christians believe one Muslim person is a terrorist, the same is opined by outsiders of their beliefs. The Divided States of America . . . we’re all fucked when propaganda like Brown’s influences the young, and stupid.

Screen Shot 2016-04-14 at 1.44.54 AMThere are 902 comments thus far since I first read the article on the Federalist Papers Project site. The writer quoted answers he/she asked Brown, and ended with ignorance:

The schmuck [Schulman, and possible Springsteen] has the audacity to misjudge my state and its citizens, including me, over our refusal to place our wives and daughters at risk — yet he continues to conduct business with nations where human rights mean absolutely nothing?

You, Sir, are a HYPOCRITE, and on behalf of my state and its [sic] amazing governor [Pat McCrory], I would like to urge you to go to hell!

To date, no crimes occurred inside public restrooms from any LGBT person.

To Michael Brown and the unidentified writer(s) on FPP, please, for humanity’s sake, take a ride in a “Tunnel of Love.” It’s “All That Heaven Will Allow.”

I recently graduated Rutgers University at Camden, NJ with a Bachelor's in Philosophy and a minor in writing. I served 15 years in the United States Air Force, and now trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. Serving in two unjust wars kept me silent. I paint and write for mental stability. My dog's name is Socrates "Soc," who I rescued after getting out of the military. Drinking with Socrates is a concept for my mind and hands describing the world as I see it, and having a say in solving socio-economic problems, if at all possible.
